Established by the late rugby legend Doddie Weir, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and supporting those affected by it.
It honors Doddie Weir’s own battle with MND, aiming to make significant strides in finding a cure and providing much needed assistance to patients and their families.
Through various initiatives, the foundation seeks to raise awareness and fund groundbreaking research, embodying Doddie’s spirit of determination and hope.
Founded by the legendary footballer Alan Shearer, The Alan Shearer Foundation aims to improve the lives of people with complex disabilities and sensory impairments, through specialist recreational facilities and vital support services.
The foundation’s work includes funding the Alan Shearer Centre, a state-of-the-art disability respite, residential, and social facility in Newcastle. This center provides a range of services, from short breaks and respite care to sensory experiences and therapeutic activities, enhancing the quality of life for individuals with complex disabilities and their families.
The foundation is committed to offering these essential services free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all in need.
