Michael Young joins the 745 squad in support of MND charities
On 17 November 2024, Michael Young took to the field at Headingley Stadium for the inaugural 745 Game, a ground-breaking match blending Rugby League and Union rules. The event honoured the legacies of rugby legends Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir, and Ed Slater while raising awareness and vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities.
The 745 Game featured star players from both rugby codes in an exciting and competitive clash. Michael joined the Rugby Union team alongside notable names like Danny Cipriani and Billy Twelvetrees, facing off against Rugby League greats such as Danny McGuire and Luke Gale.
In a thrilling contest, the Rugby League side claimed a 33-21 victory. However, the true winners were the charities supported, with over £250,000 raised to continue changing the lives of those impacted by MND.
Michael’s participation highlighted his commitment to using his Testimonial Year to support meaningful initiatives, proving once again why he is not only a celebrated athlete but also a dedicated advocate for change.
